One of the two escaped tbs from the Nijmegen Pompe clinic was arrested on Thursday evening. This is reported by the Public Prosecution Service. The 24-year-old man was arrested on the A12 near The Hague by a police team.
The man escaped from the institution last week along with a 27-year-old man. The two received outside help in their escape, according to a spokesperson for the clinic, after which they fled in a white Volkswagen Golf. The police have been looking for them ever since. The 24-year-old man was sentenced in 2021 to five years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment for armed robbery. The other man still on the run was sentenced in 2019 to 5.5 years in prison and TBS for double extortion and armed robbery in which a victim was killed.
After the escape, the Nijmegen clinic has extra measures taken† For example, temporary fences have been placed in a number of places around the clinic and the leave of other TBS prisoners has been revoked. Work is underway on a permanent second fence. Additional cameras have also been installed to better monitor the area.
