One in five young people experiences work stress | Work

The stress is slightly greater in young women. Of them, 23 percent say they experience stress, in men and boys this is 18 percent. The biggest concern for the young employees is that they expect too much of themselves. In addition, they are afraid to make mistakes and sometimes find their work too difficult. A quarter of those surveyed indicate that work stress has increased as a result of the corona crisis.

In its report, Statistics Netherlands finds that young people are back to work about as often as before the corona crisis. After the virus entered the Netherlands, there was a visible decline in the labor participation of young people, but that has been restored. In January of this year, 74.3 percent of young people between the ages of 15 and 25 had paid work, compared to 73.6 percent in January 2020.
