On Wednesday, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) asked Apeldoorn in Gelderland for urgent emergency accommodation for 150 asylum seekers for a maximum of four nights. Apeldoorn, near the Veluwe, responded to that call because of the ‘unsustainable situation in Ter Apel’. The influx of people is divided over reception locations in two sports halls in Apeldoorn, Sporthal Zuiderpark and Sporthal Mheenpark, next to a church.
Outside the Zuiderpark, where the first refugees arrived in the middle of the evening, there was some commotion about the extra reception, but this was nipped in the bud by the police and security guards.
