Edinburgh, 15 July 1988. At a graduation party, two young students – Dexter and Emma – know each other almost by chance and speak to each other for the first time. It’s what seems like a normal meeting between two people in the midst of their last adventures before facing life, yet it hides something more; the two spend the night together before separating, each chasing their own future and dreams.

One Day follows the growth and evolution of these two boys who every year, on July 15th, will think back to that first meeting dealing with the passing of time, with ambitions, hopes and dreams.

The series, inspired by David Nicholls’ 2011 novel (which had already been made into a film), is a small coming-of-age novel that lingers on feelings, on memories of youth. Each of the 14 half-hour episodes (an increasingly attractive format for platforms) takes place a year after the previous one, according to an original mechanism of relationship between the narrative and the passing of time.

The episodes capture Dexter and Emma (played by Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod) as they wander through different cities in Europe, together or alone. The continuous meetings and postponements of that night will reveal the true nature of their relationship, that profound bond that has filled their lives. For those who love romantic comedies in which fate puts the pieces of a life back in order.
