A caravan was on fire in Smilde tonight. The fire completely destroyed the camper. This was at an intersection of the Linthorst Homanweg.
This is the second time this week that a caravan has gone up in flames at this location. The same thing happened on Wednesday. Just like then, tonight, according to a bystander, ‘partying’ young people were watching. In Smilde and neighboring villages such as Hoogersmilde and Bovensmilde, caravans are regularly set on fire at the end of the year.
For example, two years ago between Christmas and New Year, a caravan also went up in flames on Koningin Wilhelminalaan. In 2021, there were three hits in three days in Smilde, Bovensmilde and Hoogersmilde.
