Once, again, sold: items from De Nobelaer sold by auction

It was all displayed on Friday during the viewing day for interested buyers: theater seats, tools, tables, coffee makers, money counting machines, wardrobes, thousands of cups, saucers and plates. De Nobelaer culture house in Etten-Leur is moving to a brand new building. A large part of the household effects cannot be taken with us, so it will be auctioned.

It is a colorful collection with items that are numbered on display. But especially the theater seats from the main hall attract the attention. Because with a little luck you can get one for a few bucks row of red folding chairs tapped on the head.

The visitors of the viewing day consist of a mixed group; from professional buyers and bargain hunters to former employees of the sixty-year-old Nobelaer or curious local residents.

“We live nearby and have already spent many evenings here in those red folding chairs in the large theater. We would like to have a few of them, but they are bolted to the floor. And that is not for our home “, says a curious couple in the former foyer of De Nobelaer.

We give these items a second life. This old building has a lot of storage space and all that useful stuff simply does not all fit in the new building on Parklaan where we are moving,” explains director Hilda Vliegenthart of the Nobelaer.

And that also applies to the hundreds of red folding chairs in the great hall. Vliegenthart: “These folding chairs are in a permanent arrangement and they cannot be taken with you to the new building. Because there will be a multifunctional hall with a telescope stand that you can slide in and out. With this we can easily convert a theater hall into a pop hall with 700 seats. pitches.”

An earlier safe of works of art has already yielded about 7,000 euros. The director does not yet know what the sale of the superfluous household effects will bring. “We hope to raise a total amount of twenty to thirty thousand euros. We will spend this money on the art fountain that will be built in front of the new building on Parklaan.”
