On the track with 17,000 (!) euros in outstanding fines
Fixed checkpoints were set up in the Ringlaan and Torhoutsesteenweg, and a mobile team was also deployed. The results are not wrong. Two people had no fewer than outstanding fines of 11,000 and 17,000 euros respectively. Their cars were immediately impounded and towed away. Four other drivers ran into the lamp, together they had 1,600 euros in unpaid fines.
Three drivers drove an uninsured vehicle and one person drove without a driver’s license. Their vehicles were also towed. “Only by carrying out targeted checks can we keep abuses and violations out of traffic. We can therefore look back on a positive collaboration across the various services,” says Chief Constable Philip Caestecker.
