On the road with the Rescue Brigade during the GP Groot Egmond-Pier-Egmond beach race

A charity is linked to every event that Le Champion organizes. At the Fjoertoer and at the GP Groot Egmond-Pier-Egmond this has been the KNRM and the Egmond Rescue Brigade for years. The two organizations can make good use of the donations. The volunteers of the Rescue Brigade have been ensuring safety on the beach, the dune area and the sea for almost 100 years. In addition, the KNRM has been providing emergency assistance at sea for 200 years. The organization receives no government support and is entirely dependent on the efforts of countless volunteers.

Last Saturday the 23rd edition of the GP Groot Egmond-Pier-Egmond was held. This is the largest beach race in Europe where around 3,000 top riders and amateurs compete against the elements for 38 kilometers on the beach. The volunteers of the KNMR and the Egmond Rescue Brigade ensure the safety of participants and visitors on the beach.

In this last episode of Kampioen, Sibel Önemli watches the heroes of the Rescue Brigade and the KNRM and reports on how they experience this day.
