Women’s national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg is on the mend and wants to quickly hold talks about her future with the leadership of the German Football Association (DFB).
“We have signaled to the DFB that we are ready for further analysis and processing of the World Cup and for confidential discussions about the way we will continue to work together in the team,” the 55-year-old wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (October 24th, 2023).
Voss-Tecklenburg continues: “In this regard, we are in a trusting exchange with the DFB and expect an appointment shortly after managing director Andreas Rettig has returned from the USA.”
Public appearances cause criticism
It was only on Sunday that the DFB confirmed that the coach, who was taking a break, was no longer on sick leave and was on vacation.
“I am currently on the road to recovery, but this process is not yet 100 percent complete. I hope and expect that my current vacation, which has been agreed with the DFB, will make a further contribution here,” continued Voss-Tecklenburg.
The DFB announced on September 8th that Voss-Tecklenburg was ill. However, she recently made public appearances and caused astonishment.
However, the association was informed about private appointments, the trainer wrote. She stands and “was in regular, trusting communication with the DFB. The DFB is informed about all the circumstances of my personal situation as an employer.”
Contract until 2025 – Hrubesch Interim coach
Horst Hrubesch was introduced as interim national coach last Friday. Association President Bernd Neuendorf said that Voss-Tecklenburg was being given time to recover. She was surprisingly eliminated in the preliminary round with the German soccer players at the World Cup in Australia. Your contract with the DFB runs until the 2025 European Championship in Switzerland.
Voss-Tecklenburg further wrote that a way should be found to “work together successfully again.”
