A woman may have been racially attacked on a bus in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
The 52-year-old was riding in a BVG double-decker bus early Wednesday morning when a man suddenly asked her about her nationality.
Then he is said to have tried to wrap the safety wire of an emergency hammer mounted on the bus around her neck, the police said. However, passengers could have stopped the man, after which he went to the upper floor of the bus.
When the Turkish woman got out at Wittenbergplatz, the man is said to have followed her, but was stopped there by a witness. Police are investigating attempted grievous bodily harm.
