The Swiss sporting goods supplier On has expanded its “Onward” resale program launched in September to include additional product categories. Previously only used shoes from the brand were sold, but now the range also includes women’s and men’s clothing. The move is a response to the “overwhelmingly positive response” from customers, the company said in a statement.
On co-founder Caspar Coppetti explained the background to the programme: “At On we strive to improve our impact on the environment and society. Our goal is to inspire people to move in highly functional clothing with the smallest possible ecological footprint,” he said in a statement. “Bringing Onward to our US community was an important milestone, but as a sportswear brand we wanted to go further. We’ve seen a lot of interest in buying and selling used clothing and we’re excited to be able to meet the needs of even more people with this expansion.”
For its resale program, On uses the service platform Recommerce Operating System from the US provider Trove. The comprehensive service package for second-hand offers is also used by other well-known clothing companies such as Patagonia, Lululemon, Arc’teryx and Levi’s.
