OM prosecutes Peter Gillis for tax fraud

The Public Prosecution Service will prosecute Peter Gillis for tax fraud. This is confirmed by a spokesperson for the Functional Public Prosecutor’s Office (a part of the Public Prosecution Service that deals with combating complex fraud) after reporting by Quote.

“The suspicions are that the administration is not kept and kept correctly, that the tax authorities are provided with incorrect or incomplete information and that the corporate income tax return is not filed (or not filed in a timely manner”), the OM said.

The case follows a major inspection by the FIOD, Tax Authorities, municipalities, police, Public Prosecution Service and the Labor Inspectorate in May 2019 of several recreation parks and other locations in Brabant and Zeeland. Locations were checked in Asten, Loon op Zand, Valkenswaard and Terneuzen (Hoek).

Indictment issued
The OM has issued the indictment in the investigation to the suspects, including Gillis. “It is now up to the suspects to indicate what research wishes they still have with regard to the findings of the FIOD”, the spokesperson said. The so-called ‘direction phase’ will then be concluded and the court will assess the investigation.
