“It’s pretty cool to experience that,” says 13-year-old Renska. During Baas van Morgen, directors of large companies and administrators throughout the country give up their place to young people for one day. This gives students like Renska and 14-year-old Nur the opportunity to sit at the controls, take a look behind the scenes and feel in charge for a day.
The two students from Pascal Zuid secondary school in Zaandam walked with Mayor Jan Hamming of Zaanstad.
The program included a visit to the recycling square in Zaandam. There they received a tour from the ‘super-fast-clean team’ and were asked to think about ways to encourage young people to keep their environment clean.
“I think these great guys will turn out just fine,” the mayor looks back on the day. “And we can be proud that young people in Zaanstad are so involved.”
