The Public Prosecution Service (OM) is definitively not conducting a criminal investigation into the death of a three-month-old baby in Ter Apel. The baby died on August 24 last year in a sports hall at the application center.
The OM says, after reviewing the results of the Netherlands Forensic Institute, that it has no indications that the death was the result of a criminal offense. The NFI has not been able to determine a cause of death.
Yesterday, the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate and the Justice and Security Inspectorate reported that it is not yet clear what caused the baby’s death. This investigation is separate from the decision of the Public Prosecution Service.
