The Public Prosecution Service (OM) will prosecute four agents of the Horst/Peel and Maas unit for criminal offences. These are three men and one woman. The Public Prosecution Service suspects them of abuse of authority and powers, computer breaches and the preparation of false official reports.
Agents of the base unit were discredited in 2019 when it turned out that agents in their eagerness to arrest criminals flouted investigative rules.
Laid off
Initially, the police themselves investigated this, after which five officers were fired. Six others received lighter sentences.

Investigation of the National Criminal Investigation Department
Subsequently, the National Criminal Investigation Service also conducted an investigation. Based on this, the Public Prosecution Service suspected a total of seven officers of criminal offenses in June last year. Less than a year later, the Public Prosecution Service takes follow-up steps and takes four of them to court. The date of the first substantive treatment is not yet known.
Business broken
The same investigation also showed that a number of citizens were convicted due to the incorrect actions of the officers. The sentences imposed on them by the judge have not been carried out.
