OM demands 16 years in prison against main suspect in Hedel extortion case Inland

The Public Prosecution Service considers the Hilversummer as the right hand and conduit of his half-brother Ali G. (36) in organizing the series of attacks with incendiary bombs in 2020. According to the Public Prosecution Service, A. has seven successful and two foiled attacks in Rosmalen, Kerkdriel, Hedel, Hilversum, Tiel, Breda and Vlijmen were provoked by recruiting and directing implementers. He allegedly gave them addresses of victims and gave them explosives. He did that as an ‘adjutant’ under the supervision of his half-brother who is a master con artist, says the judiciary.

Terror Campaign

The public prosecutor spoke in the court in Arnhem of a terror campaign. Employees of fruit company De Groot have been threatened since 2019. Then a shipment of cocaine was found in one of the fruit transports and the fruit company informed the police. The company then received threatening text messages. The text messages ultimately demanded 2.5 million euros in bitcoins. In the case of A., the Public Prosecution Service is asking for an acquittal for the many SMS threats, in the absence of sufficient evidence.

A. says he has nothing to do with the attacks or the sending of the threats. He has now been incarcerated for fourteen months.

Fingerprints

A list of employees of De Groot Fresh Group was found in a drawer in A.’s parental home, containing A.’s fingerprints and notes from his half-brother. The Public Prosecution Service also relies on mutual messages from suspects and statements from a co-defendant. He was interrogated during an undercover operation in a van by undercover agents posing as criminals.

The Public Prosecution Service previously demanded (partly conditional) prison sentences of three to nine years against six perpetrators of the attacks. Ali G. will stand trial in June.
