OM demands 10 and 14 years in prison for shooting Aalsmelaar Nassim (20) in Hoofddorp

The 20-year-old Amsterdammer TS and the 25-year-old Aalsmelaar QZ have heard 14 and 10 years in prison against them today in the Haarlem court. According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), they are responsible for the death of Nassim El Beshouty (20), who was shot dead in a parking lot in Hoofddorp on April 1 last year.

According to the public prosecutor, the two suspects worked closely together in the crime, as a result of which the Public Prosecution Service charged the men with ‘co-perpetration of manslaughter’. The officer does think that the shooter deserves a higher sentence than the co-defendant, who is also suspected of illegal possession and trade of weapons in addition to the shooting.

The parking lot where the violence took place is located at the Overbos sports club on the Leenderbos, between the residential areas of Overbos and Floriande. Some residents of those neighborhoods hear explosions that morning, but don’t think about gunshots yet. “We thought it was fireworks, but later we heard the helicopter and we knew it was worse,” said a woman in front of the NH News camera that afternoon.

The same evening, 25-year-old Aalsmelaar QZ was arrested. Followed four days later the arrest of Amsterdammer TS, who – as the police investigation has shown – would have shot Nassim several times.

The motive would be a financial conflict. Nassim accused TS of breaking into a family member’s home and decided to get back at him: he scammed him. TS did not stop there and tracked down Nassim together with 25-year-old Aalsmelaar QZ.

Three encounters

A few days before the murder, QZ asked several people where he could find Nassim, the investigation has shown. On the day of the murder, the suspects and the victim had also seen each other twice before, according to camera images. First at the Spaarne Gasthuis, later at a gas station at the Paxlaan in Hoofddorp and finally at a parking lot at the Leenderbos.

“The gunman chased the victim while shooting”

Prosecutor

That’s where it went wrong. TS demanded money from Nassim, who refused to pay back, after which the young Amsterdammer grabbed a firearm. Nassim made another attempt to get away, but it proved futile.

“The gunman shot the victim several times and chased him shooting while the victim fled,” the officer said during the hearing. “He shot him in the back from behind, so he was sure the victim would die.”

Driver getaway car

Although QZ did not shoot, according to the Public Prosecution Service he must have known that TS was carrying the weapon. Not in the least because QZ would have supplied the weapon to TS himself. Moreover, because they allegedly fled together, with QZ driving the getaway car, he is charged with complicity in manslaughter.

“Under these circumstances, the 25-year-old suspect consciously accepts the significant chance that the other suspect will use a weapon that will fatally hit the victim,” the prosecutor said during the hearing.

The court will rule in two weeks.
