Olympique Lyon deny reports of ultimatum for Peter Bosz

Read the article “with astonishment”.

In an official statement, Olympique Lyon responded to a report by the French online portal “Foot Mercato”, after which coach Peter Bosz was given an ultimatum for the next five games. The Ligue 1 club denied this and expressed their confidence in the 58-year-old.

Bosz, in charge since May 2021, had started the new season well with Lyon, winning four of their first five games but suffering three straight defeats before the international break. After the 0-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain last Sunday, according to “Foot Mercato”, there was a crisis meeting between President Jean-Michel Aulas, Technical Director Vincent Ponsot and Bosz, in which the ultimatum is said to have been given.

OL now reacted to this: “Olympique Lyon was amazed to read the article published on the Foot Mercato website and would like to categorically deny the various information contained therein,” said the statement published through the club’s channels. Below, the allegations were addressed and refuted in four key points. The crisis meeting was a weekly meeting, the ultimatum did not exist, no player had complained to management about Bosz and the transfer of midfielder Thiago Mendes (30) to central defense was never questioned internally.

“Olympique Lyon is once again surprised that such completely false information is coming out, which only aims to destabilize the team. The entire club is working and focusing mainly on the next seven Ligue 1 games with the sole aim of offering Peter Bosz and his players the best possible conditions to achieve the goals that have been set.” The 15th and last matchday before the World Cup break takes place in Ligue 1 on the second weekend in November.
