Olympics out? Former world champion suspected of doping

France’s former fencing world champion Ysaora Thibus has come under suspicion of doping and must therefore fear losing the foil competitions at the Olympic Games in Paris.

The French federation suspended the 32-year-old until further notice after the analysis of her doping control at the World Cup in Paris in mid-January revealed “an abnormal result”.

Thibus, who won the individual title in Cairo in 2022 and won Olympic silver in the team in Tokyo a year earlier, protests her innocence. The association has not yet provided any public information about the results of its doping control.
