Snowboarder Annika Morgan has to forego the start of the Olympic winter and fears that she will not be able to take part in the games in northern Italy next February.
The 23-year-old slopestyle and big air specialist fractured her third metacarpal bone during training and has already undergone successful surgery. According to the Snowboard Germany Association, a gradual return to training is only expected in two weeks.
Morgan, who reached the podium twice at a Slopestyle World Cup last winter, is initially out of the competitions in Beijing this weekend and in Steamboat Springs/USA a week later.
This also reduces their chances of meeting the national standard for the Olympic Games (February 6 to 22, 2026). As things currently stand, she only has the Laax Open (January 15th to 18th, 2026).
