Skeleton (M): Rukosuev with a top start
Rukosuev (ROC) shocks the competition with a real rocket launch. However, the two-time junior world champion does not get his sports equipment as good as Grotheer, even if there are no major mistakes to be seen. He is 48 hundredths behind Jungk in fourth place.
02:54
Skeleton (M): Defending champion far behind
Can Mr. Olympia Sungbin Yun triumph again at the Games four years after his home win? The start is good as usual, but the journey is full of mistakes. The former top star is far behind, 1.26 seconds behind. However, after the weak season, this does not come as a complete surprise. His compatriot Jung fared little better before.
02:51
Figure skating (M): Britschgl with a decent freestyle
Britschgl showed us a decent, but not faultless freestyle and scored 136.42 points. However, he still remains almost ten points behind his best mark of the season. Andrei Mozalev (ROC) is hitting it a little harder. The 18-year-old falls after a jump and misses points. The medal candidate actually did not score enough points in the compulsory program.
02:47
Skeleton (M): Jungk with small problems
Can Axel Jungk crown his great season? This winter’s World Cup runner-up had already struggled with a positive corona test before the games and did not enjoy any promising preparation. The German starts well but takes a few cushions easily. Unfortunately, that takes a little too much time. He is in third place, five tenths down.
02:45
Seleton (M): Dukurs brothers are losing ground
Tomass Dukurs also has no chance against Grotheer. The Latvian doesn’t make any big mistakes, but lags behind the music quite clearly from the start. 76 hundredths are already a pound. Does his more successful brother do better? The answer is “yes”. The six-time world champion starts lively despite his 37 years, but loses a lot of ground after the intermediate best time and takes third place with a gap of a good six tenths.
02:41
Skeleton (M): Tretiakov with penalties
As expected, Tretiakov (ROC) starts better than the German, but has to fight hard in the ice channel. After the last corner, he has an unwelcome encounter with the gang. The time stands still at 1:00.36 minutes. Now come the Dukurs brothers Tomass and Martin (LAT).
02:39
Skeleton (M): Grotheer strong
Christopher Grotheer gets off to a good start. The German, who began his winter sports career as a ski jumper, needs exactly one minute. What this time is worth, we’ll be the same. Now it’s the turn of the super starter and Olympic champion Alexander Tretiakov.
02:36
Skeleton (M): Grotheer goes into the ice channel
The first three skeletonis have already completed the wild ride. It is currently led by Andrew Blaser with a time of 1:01.80. Now we look forward to Christopher Grotheer. The world champion of the past two years on his home track in Altenberg now wants to be fast in distant China. Here we go!
02:31
Figure skating (M): Britschgl opens the freestyle
For Lukas Britschgi (SUI), the compulsory program didn’t quite go according to plan. With a score of 76.16, he fell a little short of his own level. Now the 23-year-old Olympic debutant would like to shine again in the freestyle and make up a few positions. The athlete will perform to the song “Mount Everest” by Forever.
02:27
Curling (F): Switzerland still 0-0 against Great Britain
Team Switzerland is starting the Olympic curling tournament today with high hopes. The reigning world champions (Silvana Tirinzoni, Alina Pätz, Esther Neuenschwander, Melanie Barbezat and Carole Howald) have to deal with Great Britain. The first ending just ended with no points.
02:21
Figure skating (M): 24 figure skaters reach for precious metal
The freestyle follows the duty! This is at least true for the top 24 figure skaters in the world. After the compulsory program, Nathan Chen (USA) leads ahead of the two Japanese Kagiyama and Uno. As is well known, however, the freestyle can turn everything upside down. The Swiss Lukas Britschgi will be the first athlete to step onto the ice. He was 24th after the freestyle and could only gain positions today. Nathan Chen will complete the free program as the best runner in the compulsory program and bring about the final decision in the medal fight.

Skeleton (M): German trio throws themselves into the ice track
Starting at 2:30 a.m., 25 men race headlong down the ice track at the spectacular Yanqing National Sliding Center to determine the Olympic champion in skeleton in four runs. From a German point of view, the track in Yanqing has been very successful so far, as the lugers from Team D have already secured an outstanding three gold and two silver medals. The German trio around Alexander Gassner, Axel Jungk and Christopher Grotheer is now dreaming of continuing this successful series.
02:19
Snowboard (F): Spectacular halfpipe final expected
At 2:30 a.m. the eagerly awaited halfpipe final of the snowboard women starts. The twelve best athletes bought their tickets for the three final runs on Wednesday, of which the best score is counted. Leilani Ettel is at the start for Germany, the big gold favorite is Chloe Kim from the USA.
02:05
Curling (F): Four pairings at the start of the women’s tournament
Ten nations are at the start in the round robin in “everyone against everyone” mode, of which the top four teams qualify for the semi-finals. The round robin starts shortly after 2:00 a.m. German time with the games Great Britain vs. Switzerland, Denmark vs. China, Sweden vs. Japan and the Russian Olympic Committee vs. USA being played at the same time.
02:02
Curling (F): Start of the round robin
After the medals in the mixed doubles were awarded in the first week of the Olympics, the women will start their Olympic tournament this morning. Italy sensationally won gold in the mixed team with its duo Stefania Constantini / Amos Mosaner ahead of Norway and Sweden. In the women’s race, the Italians are not (yet) at the start this time.
01:57
The other competitions of the day
We would also have some artistry with the freestyle skiers, who compete for badges in the mixed team aerials. From 1:00 p.m. onwards, the speed skaters will also be challenged over 5,000 meters. And there is tobogganing – in a team competition, which is of course extremely interesting from a German point of view. We’ll save that for 2:30 p.m. Incidentally, the lugers pass the baton on to the skeletonists in the ice channel, while the men compete in their first two competition runs early in the morning. There is also plenty of curling. And there are four men’s ice hockey games on the program. The German team is in action for the first time and faces a very difficult task against Canada at 2:10 p.m.
01:47
The program early Thursday morning
The first medal decision starts at around 2:30 a.m. with the freestyle of the figure skating men. Snowboarding is also practiced quite early. The women fight for precious metal in the halfpipe, the men do it later in the cross race. Of course, from 3:30 a.m. CET, the super combination of the alpine skiers is of interest. The cross-country skiers search for an Olympic champion over 10 kilometers (8:00 a.m.).
Warm welcome!
Good morning and hello to the next day of competition from Beijing! Today it’s the curlers again who open the day at around 2 a.m. in the Chinese capital! We will be there live with the conference for the entire 14 hours!
