Difficult start for Switzerland
Switzerland started the Olympic tournament with two defeats, but then managed to turn the tide against the favorites from Great Britain. Against Canada, however, the Confederates suffered a setback again. The task against Sweden is unlikely to get any easier. The Scandinavians have won three out of five duels so far.

Australia and Norway with room for improvement
The Australian curlers have not yet won any of their five games. With 0:5 points they rank in last place. Things weren’t going well for Norway either. Only one of four games (11:6 against the USA) could be won.

Curlers open the Saturday
The Olympic Saturday starts with two mixed duels in curling. Australia will play against Norway, Switzerland will face Sweden. The curling competition is already in full swing – the curlers started the games on Wednesday.

The first medal decisions
The first six sets of medals will be awarded this Saturday in Beijing. Team Germany is starting in several competitions with good prospects. Flag bearer Claudia Pechstein has no chance of a medal in speed skating over 3000 meters (9:30 a.m.), but Katharina Althaus is one of the top favorites in ski jumping from the normal hill (11:45 a.m.). Katharina Hennig wants to attack in the skiathlon of cross-country skiers (8:45 a.m.) as well as the German biathlon mixed relay (10 a.m.) made up of Vanessa Voigt, Denise Herrmann, Benedikt Doll and Philipp Nawrath. The first decisions are also pending in shottrack and ski freestyle.
