Zhangjiakou (dpa) – Stephan Leyhe, together with bronze winner Karl Geiger, Markus Eisenbichler and Constantin Schmid, forms the German ski jumping quartet in the team competition of the Olympic Winter Games.
This was announced by the German Ski Association (DSV) in Zhangjiakou. Pius Paschke has to watch as the fifth German jumper.
Before being nominated, Leyhe and Paschke had held a team-internal elimination competition during official training in snowstorms. “I think each of us would have deserved it,” said Leyhe. Although Paschke was a little disappointed with the outcome, he was fair. “It was close. Stephan definitely deserved to jump,” he said.
The team competition on Monday (12 p.m./ARD and Eurosport) marks the conclusion of the ski jumping decisions at the Winter Games. Geiger took third place in the individual on the normal hill on Saturday.
