Cross country: Niskanen rushes to gold
The Finn Iivo Niskanen proved his current exceptional position as a classic runner in the Olympic individual race over 15 kilometers. In a superior manner he secured the gold medal in the Guyangshu ski and biathlon center in Zhangjiakou ahead of Alexander Bolschunov from Russia and the Norwegian Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo.
As expected, the German starters had nothing to do with the awarding of the medals. The best of the four DSV runners was Lucas Bögl in 17th place. Jonas Dobler was in 19th place in the final, directly ahead of Janosch Brugger. Albert Kuchler was 32.
