A member of another Olympic delegation at Beijing Airport had previously tested positive for the corona virus. Now a first case has occurred in the German team.
A supervisor from Team Germany for the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing has tested positive for the corona virus in China. As the German Olympic Sports Confederation announced on Monday, the finding was made on Sunday after a PCR test in the Zhangjiakou ski region. The supervisor is symptom-free and is currently in a quarantine hotel, it said in a message.
DOSB comments
The processes on site corresponded to the specifications described in the playbook, the communication between the medical staff of the organizing committee on site and the DOSB was very good and cooperative. “By consistently complying with all hygiene measures, so-called ‘close contacts’ in Team Germany could be avoided,” the DOSB said.
In the Zhangjiakou region, the Beijing Games from February 4 to 20 will award the medal competitions in cross-country skiing, Nordic combined and biathlon, as well as ski jumping, freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
