Leksandi’s sports director Thomas Johansson wonders why the goalkeeper in Tuesday’s SHL match Mantas Armalisken knocked out Olli Palola survived the punishment, reports Expressen.
Oskarshamn’s Palola, who received a hard blow to the head from a flipper hand, was hospitalized, where he was diagnosed with a concussion. Armalis was banned for four matches for his trick.
However, according to Johansson, the report of the SHL’s disciplinary committee is missing an essential part, as it does not mention the event preceding the hit. The report says that Leksand’s defender pushed Palola towards Armal, which according to Johansson is not true.
According to the Leksand boss, Armalis’ anger was caused by Palola’s racket activity against the rules, which, according to him, should have resulted in a dismissal and possibly disciplinary proceedings.
– In my opinion, it is a powerful spearing, Mantas moves in the other direction, Johansson reasons.
– I don’t know the limit of the boiling point, but it is a boiling point, which results in a reaction that leads to what he does. It’s not okay to spear players on the field.
Johansson insists that he does not seek approval for his goalkeeper’s exploits. However, the Leksand boss thinks that Palola’s injury was due to bad luck, as the Finn turned his head just before the flipper hit his head.
– It hit the patient by accident. Still, “Manta” shouldn’t have done that, and I hope Palola is okay.
Referees in the match Kristoffer Folkstrand admits to Expressen that the jury missed Palola’s actions in the situation. In retrospect, he assessed that a two-minute or 2+2-minute suspension could have been given for yelling or interfering with the goalkeeper. For five minutes, Folkstrand saw no grounds.
