Olivier Vandecasteele receives Walloon badge of honor

Oliver Vandecasteele was released on May 26 after 455 days in prison in Iran. He received the officer’s badge of honor on Saturday. “Through you, we pay tribute to all the people who fight against dictatorship and arbitrariness, in us and in the world,” Walloon Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo said. Astronaut Raphaël Liégeois was also awarded the rank of officer. He was selected in November to become one of five new professional astronauts at the European Space Agency (ESA).

Athlete Camille Laus and actor and director Bouli Lanners, among others, also received a Walloon badge of honor.
