Oliver Kahn talks about Robert Lewandowski’s contract – and counters

Will Robert Lewandowski stay with FC Bayern beyond 2023? Then his contract with the record champion ends. The Pole is not the only one who only has a contract until then. No reason to panic for Oliver Kahn.

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn is still not looking at the cards with a view to the squad planning and the future of Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer. “As far as the talks are concerned, I’m very relaxed. We won’t let ourselves be put under pressure from outside,” said the former keeper of the Bundesliga soccer club in an interview with “Münchner Merkur” and “tz”, which will appear on Thursday.

Kahn’s tip against Matthäus: “headline supplier”

The aim is to be able to win the Champions League every season. “This includes further targeted reinforcements for our team as well as contract talks with our players,” explained the 52-year-old.

Most recently, Lothar Matthäus had criticized those responsible for Bayern for dealing with striker Lewandowski. He was surprised that “nothing is progressing,” said the record national player.

Kahn now countered: “Lothar has never managed a club after his career as a player and coach. Unfortunately, he has recently been interpreting his role as a good football expert more and more as a headline supplier. He would be well advised not to talk about topics for which everyone Inside view is missing.”

Lewandowski’s contract, like that of Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer, expires in the summer of 2023.
