Manchester City Oleksandr Zintshenko has been in the grip of an emotional storm since Russia started the war in Zintshenko’s home country of Ukraine.

Zintshenko heard about the Russian hostilities from his wife, who woke up the City player and showed videos and pictures of the situation in Ukraine.

The Russian invasion has lasted more than a week, and Zintshenko’s feelings continue to surface.

– I’m just crying. Just the same wherever I drive, I might start to cry suddenly. I imagine the place where I was born, where I grew up. Now there is only emptiness, Zintshenko said BBC’s in an interview.

Many Ukrainians have put a tough on the fierce and fought bravely against the Russians. There are also friends of Zintshenko among the Ukrainian military.

– Honestly, if I didn’t have a daughter, I would be there (at war), Zintshenko revealed.

– I was just born into it. I know the mentality of the people in my country. They think the same way. I know they’ll die sooner. I am really proud of Ukraine.

“People are starving”

Zintshenko says he is impressed with the support he has received. Last weekend, the match between City and Everton began in a touching way with City players wearing shirts with the Ukrainian flag and the text “no war,” meaning “no war”. Everton players were entangled in Ukrainian flags.

Zintshenko’s goal is to show the rest of the world the truth about the situation in Ukraine – especially because of Russian propaganda.

– I can show a million pictures and videos of what they’re doing right now. I can show every city in my country that they have destroyed. People are starving, they are just trying to survive, Zintshenko continued.

Zintshenko has also been disappointed with Russian footballers who have not condemned the war. Zintshenko stresses that most of them have a lot of followers on Instagram and Facebook.

According to the Ukrainian, people would listen to them and they could even do something to stop the war.

– I know they’re scared, but what are they afraid of? They do nothing for them.
