OLED TVs now also available in 42 inches

TV sets are now available in almost all shapes and colours. LG is now also closing a previously existing gap in the market with a new device: 42-inch televisions with OLED technology.

At the CES in January 2022, the electronics giant LG presented its new OLED Evo TV C2. This is the successor to the popular C1 model. The special feature: LG offers the television in six different sizes, including 42 inches – and with OLED technology. Now the high quality small TV is on the market.

OLED technology for the first time in 42-inch televisions

Manufacturer LG Display is a leader in the field of OLED panels. The acronym stands for “Organic Light Emitting Diode”, which already describes the underlying technology. Because the advantage of OLED displays is that the individual pixels light up by themselves and therefore do not require any background lighting. This leads to particularly beautiful images with outstanding contrasts and black values, among other things.

You can find out more about this in the video:

Among other things, due to the OLED technology that has only been installed accordingly so far, smaller television sets are generally considered to be less powerful. This has primarily to do with the production price; OLED is more expensive than LED, for example. LG is now taking the plunge with its C2 model in 42 inches. But the manufacturer also costs a lot: the OLED television is currently only available from around 1130 euros. Compared to other 42-inch devices, that’s a decent number. In return, you get the popular size, which is also ideal for gamers, but also with a particularly beautiful picture.

Trend towards small TV sets?

In addition, LG is now also launching a 97-inch television at the same time – also a novelty in terms of OLED technology. Overall, however, the technology should only establish itself in the lower size and price segment after it has long since arrived in the middle range.

With its Bravia XR-A90K, Sony also launched a 42-inch TV with OLED this summer. And Panasonic has also announced a corresponding model for this year; the trend could therefore continue.
