Leipzig jumps off one coaching candidate after another. Now a long-time Bundesliga coach is apparently coming into focus-who has just been released.
The Danish coaching optal Jacob Neestrup does not change a bit surprisingly to the Bundesliga for the time being. This announced his club, FC Copenhagen, on Monday evening. The association from the Danish capital absolutely wants to keep the 37-year-old and therefore refused all inquiries.
For RB Leipzig, this means that the coaching search continues. The table seventh of the Bundesliga season, which came to an end in May, had Neestrup, according to the matching media reports, as one of the top candidates on the list for the successor to the officially leaked interim coach Zsolt Löw.
The 46-year-old Löw temporarily took over from the released Marco Rose in March and returned to the global football strategy team from Red Bull again.
According to information from the “kicker”, a trainer in Germany is now a well -known coach in the focus of the lawn ballers: Ole Werner.
The 37-year-old had been put in front of Werder Bremen a few weeks ago after he did not want to extend his contract until 2026. In the course of this, Werder was leaked that the ideas about the future of the club between the Bossen and Werner would increasingly divergence.
At first glance, it seems comprehensible that the Werner in Leipzig, which is also very ambitious, could take the next step on the career ladder. Especially since RB has significantly greater financial means than the Bremen.
As the “kicker” reports, Werner is now “in the role of the top favorite” to the coaching job at the Leipzigern, after RB had previously tried to do so with Sebastian Hoeneß, Roger Schmidt, Oliver Glasner and, above all, CESC Fàbras.
His “intensive exchange” is said to have occurred between Werner and RB in the past few days. In turn, the native of Schleswig-Holstein shows interest in a commitment in Saxony.
The conversations should now be intensified and finalized. In the event of an agreement, however, a transfer fee would probably be due – as Werner, as already described, still has a contract until 2026 at Werder. According to “kicker”, however, this should be “manageable”
