An older couple from Son en Breugel caused a collision on the N34 in Drenthe on Monday evening. The couple had driven the wrong way and tried to turn around on the road. The following traffic was not aware of this, and a total of three cars collided.
The couple was on their way home from Veendam in Son en Breugel. They had to drive on the N33 via Assen, but accidentally ended up on the N34 towards Annen. That’s why the couple decided to turn back on the road.
Big bend
Via an exit lane at a parking lot, the couple’s car suddenly made a large turn to drive in the other direction. But following traffic had not taken that maneuver into account. Three cars collided.
The accident happened around ten past seven. The road was closed and an ambulance arrived at the scene of the accident. Three people were checked, but no one had to be taken to hospital. The three cars were removed by a salvage company.
The road was reopened around eight o’clock on Monday evening.
