Old-timers shine at an international meeting in Wervik

“There are people who come for nostalgia,” said Nicolas Galle, member of the organization. “They want to see which car they used to take to school.” Nevertheless, young people are also interested in the well-kept showpieces at the free event. Tibert Neirinck photographs the old cars and occasionally posts them on Instagram. “Sometimes I get a response from an owner who likes the photos,” he said.

The collection ranges from tractors over retro Volkswagen vans to glitzy Lamborghinis. Every year the number of cars at the international meeting increases. Since the meadow is filling up, the old-timers are already parking in the surrounding streets. According to the organization, visitors come from five different countries.
