Seven people were injured in a fire in a care facility in Friedrichshain on Saturday morning.

According to the police’s previous findings, around 3:30 a.m., old furniture initially burned in the courtyard of the facility on Weidenweg.

The flames then spread to the facade and inside the building. The Berlin fire brigade was alerted by a fire alarm system. The heat from the fire was so intense that windows shattered and toxic fumes were drawn into the building.

The fire brigade was on site with around 100 emergency services, including numerous ambulances with emergency paramedics and emergency doctors.
