Old times are revived in and around De Maaspoort in Den Bosch. This evening, the former basketball temple is dominated by the celebration of Heroes, the Bossche men’s team that seized the national championship for the first time in seven years.

Earlier in the day, Heroes had won the fifth and decisive game for the national title, against ZZ Leiden. Still in the lion’s den!

Also reason for Mayor Jack Mikkers to travel to the Maaspoort to address and pay tribute to the successful team. Includes champagne and flowers. Rinus de Jong, the nestor of the Bossche basketball, did not want to miss anything and was also in De Maaspoort. Under his leadership, Nashua (as the club was then called) was as popular as it was successful at home and abroad.
