The former ALDI in Scherpenzeel will once again be a crisis emergency shelter for refugees from Ukraine. From 15 July to the end of September, a maximum of 80 people will always live in the old supermarket. They then stay there for a few days.
That already happened in May. Then the building was on the Dorpsstraat In use as emergency emergency shelter for six weeks† Because there is still a great need for places for refugees, Scherpenzeel now wants to make the building available again.
Just like this spring, it is again the intention that people stay for a maximum of a few days, before moving on to a location for a longer stay. The difference with last time is that the Red Cross now also staffs and coordinates the reception. Although it is emphasized that the help of volunteers from the neighborhood is very much appreciated, just like last spring.
