Lately there has been a lot to do about older celebrities such as Isa Hoes and Heleen van Royen who, after following all kinds of extreme diets, suddenly lose their killerbody show on Instagram. This exhibitionism goes down the wrong way with some people, because it would be a negative example for women or young people who are already insecure.

Starving

Olcay Gulsen removed a ‘too skinny’ photo of himself from Instagram in May after fierce criticism from outside. “I did agree with people that it was a bit of a crazy angle, which made me look really hungry,” she responds in the Weekend.

In retrospect, Olcay didn’t quite understand why she had posted this either. “I didn’t think it was such a nice picture, on reflection, so I took it down. I thought: maybe I look extremely thin.”

Six times a week

Olcay’s body requires a lot of work. “I exercise five to six times a week, I’ve been doing pilates for a year and a half. And I haven’t eaten bread, potatoes, pasta or rice for seven months. Super boring. But it actually got used to.”

Isn’t it all a bit over the top? “I’ve lost seven kilos, so that’s not too bad, but on such a small body you see it faster.”

flop soap

Finally: what does Olcay’s TV career look like after her flop soap? “I speak with all kinds of different producers for new TV programs and for the rest I will join Khalid and Sophie’s talk show.”

Doesn’t she feel insecure after those terribly poor viewing figures from Ruud & Olcay? “No, I’m not insecure at all, that doesn’t bother me.”
