Oktoberfest Sittard is back ‘in full glory’ after two years | 1Limburg

The six-day Oktoberfest is making its return to the Sittardse Schootsvelden after two years. The 17th edition of the event will take place ‘in all its glory’, the municipality of Sittard-Geleen has decided.

According to the municipality, the Austrian acts DJ Ötzi & Band and Die Schürzenjäger are the major crowd pullers for the event, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year.

Corona measures
Outgoing alderman Andries Houtakkers says that the party will continue in full, “After we had to miss the party in 2020 due to corona measures and we had an adapted Oktoberfest last year in the form of the Wiesnfest.”

The event will take place from 21 to 26 October on the firing fields and in the city center of Sittard. Ticket sales for the event have already started.

Octoberfest
In the context of the theme ‘Auf Geht’s’, other acts also grace the stage. Among others, Heimatdamisch, Die Dorfrocker, Fääschtbänkler and The Trammps are part of the party. Houthakkers says they are proud that his municipality is organizing ‘the autumn party of the south’.

In addition to the musical acts, there are also 50 fairground acts in the city center. The festival also kicks off with the VDL Oktoberparade, where the new Miss Oktoberfest makes her entry. The ‘speed carving’ championship is new. Participants make sculptures with chain saws.
