“okay to feel this way”

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has opened up to his followers on social networks. He struggles with psychological and emotional problems – and still doesn’t want to give up.

Formula 1 record world champion Lewis Hamilton is struggling with psychological and emotional problems. It was a “hard year” with everything that happened around you, the Mercedes driver wrote on social networks.

It’s sometimes difficult to “stay positive. I’ve been struggling with mental and emotional problems for a long time, it’s a big effort to keep going, but we have to keep fighting, we have so much to do and to achieve.”

Hamilton is only fifth in the drivers’ standings

Hamilton did not name the specific circumstances. He continued on his Instagram story: “I’m writing to say that it’s okay to feel the way you do. I want you to know that you are not alone and that we will get through this. A friend reminded me today that you are not alone and that you are so strong and can achieve anything you put your mind to.”

The 37-year-old Englishman encouraged his followers. From a sporting point of view, the seven-time world champion has had a difficult season so far. After the rule revolution in Formula 1, Hamilton is only fifth in the world championship driver standings. So far, his racing car has not been able to keep up with the cars from Red Bull and Ferrari. At the season opener in Bahrain, Hamilton nevertheless ended up on the podium and finished third.
