The man from Cologne scored for the Canadians to make it 2-1, but was unable to prevent the 5-2 defeat against the Columbus Blue Jackets. As a result, the Oilers missed out on second place in the Pacific Division and the associated home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. In their last two games of the season, the Los Angeles Kings could theoretically catch the Oilers. With 55 goals, Draisaitl is second in the scoring charts behind Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
