The oil price had fallen recently, but climbed sharply on Monday after the reports. The European Brent oil became more than 4 percent more expensive to more than $ 88.6 per barrel. The American oil type WTI also increased by more than 4 percent, to more than $ 82.9 per barrel.
The oil-exporting countries will meet in Vienna on Wednesday. OPEC+ consists of 23 countries, with Saudi Arabia and Russia as main members.
Unlike crude oil, natural gas became considerably cheaper on Monday. On the gas exchange in Amsterdam, the leading TTF future fell by approximately 6.5 percent to 176.5 euros per megawatt hour. That is the lowest level since July, but still much higher than before the Ukraine crisis. European countries are taking measures to reduce their gas consumption after Russia shuts off the gas tap. On the other hand, Norway is increasing its gas supplies to Western Europe.
