“Time for something to happen” comes out on February 22nd including a music video.
In the German rap scene, two artists have once again teamed up that you wouldn’t have expected. $oho Bani announced on February 19th that he has reinterpreted the track “Time for something to turn” with the help of none other than the original’s singer, Herbert Grönemeyer.
First the 2006 World Cup, now the 2024 European Championship
The song will be reissued as a rap version on February 22nd and there will also be a music video. Grönemeyer originally released “Time for Something to Turn” for the 2006 World Cup. Almost 20 years later, the song is now getting a new coat of paint – in keeping with the European Football Championship taking place in Germany in the summer. In 2006 the piece made it to number one in the charts – whether the feature with $oho Bani can build on this success remains to be seen.
You can hear a short excerpt of the track here:
While $oho Bani has now secured a permanent place in the German hip-hop world, it is a rarer genre excursion for Herbert Grönemeyer – but not his first. He already had a feature on Trettmann’s “Stefan Richter” in 2023.
