A chuckle comes from the phone.

– My and Sampo’s work-related dreams are so far apart!

Former CEO of Jouni store Michele “Minttu” Murphy-Kaulanen has set out to pursue his own career dreams. In August, he started at Bo LKV as an apartment salesman. The goal is to complete the Realtor’s degree and help people find their dream apartments.

The situation is delicious: the children are old enough that the 43-year-old mother of the family can invest in herself. The company has millions of euros in its account thanks to a successful acquisition.

You don’t have to do work – instead, you can freely realize yourself.

– I’ve been dreaming about this for a long time. Before, it always felt like it wasn’t the right time. I’ve always been interested in real estate and housing investment – especially the spirit of real estate, Minttu Kaulanen tells Iltalehte.

He handles housing sales in Ylläs and Levi.

In April, the Kaulasets gave up the Jouni store in Äkäslompolo and sold it to Kesko for a price tag of millions. Years in the middle of the company’s debts were suddenly swept away by one acquisition.

– In the past, you had to put your eggs in one basket. Our goal was to get the deal done and get out of the deal that would be profitable. It didn’t happen all of a sudden that we finished the story.

Sampo Kaulanen announced at that time that he would begin a sabbatical year. He ordered a load of wood for the yard and bought a tractor.

Even though Minttu knows the fast and impressive movements of his wings, he was also surprised that the rocking time was over in 52 hours.

– Oh my god, I completely broke down. I realized this is what it’s like to be married to ADHD!

– At that point, it was clear that I would start doing my own thing. The children are old enough that I can focus on creating a career. I don’t want to be dependent on anyone or anything, he shoots straight.

The oldest of the family’s children is 23, two teenage daughters are 18, and Sampo and Mintu’s youngest is already ten years old.

Earthly peace

At best, they are two extremes that balance each other out.

Iltalehti previously reported that Sampo Kaulanen was excited to buy luxurious luxury properties from Levi, where he attracts superstars to stay.

– Sampo’s own dream is focused on luxury, while mine is on peace: simple country life. The older I’ve gotten and I’ve been exposed to the hype, the less I’ve missed it, Minttu Kaulanen explains.

Minttu Kaulanen moves through spaces with intuition and senses their energies. He dreamed of a space with water nearby, a field landscape and a small fence in sight, behind which his own horses neigh contentedly, as the family’s own home.

– Because I have such a dream, I know that others also have dreams related to real estate. They are no luxury. A person’s peace can be found within, not in the external framework. I’m extremely good at that.

Kaulasten’s jump into the world of real estate business coincides with a quiet time in terms of transactions. This does not scare Minttu Kaula. He believes in Lapland’s attractiveness as an investment destination.

– I can not play. I’m sure the good times will feel even better then. In the cycle of the world, we always alternately go to the bottom and from there to the top. When Jouni’s shop was founded, the financial crisis came, interest rates went through the roof and I joined a company that was ripe for bankruptcy. People lack foresight, the economy will rise, he says.

– People invest a lot in Lapland. Especially foreigners are very interested in the magic of Lapland, and there are those people in Finland as well.

Not in symbiosis

Minttu Kaulanen says he is immune to criticism. He says that he has heard many criticisms about why “lärvi is on display” in the newspapers.

– When people have traveled the same route, they can come and comment.

At the moment, the most dominant feeling is gratitude and a humble attitude in front of everything that has happened. In the most difficult times, the Kaulasets were afraid to open the envelopes and had to ask for more payment time for the invoices. Penn’s stretch years were long.

Now that the economic situation has turned upside down, it has brought freedom. According to Mintu, nothing essential has changed in the couple’s relationship.

– Me and Sampo are not in symbiosis. It doesn’t drive us apart, it makes us stronger. Already in the days of Jouni’s store, Sampo handled the marketing and I handled the administration, that’s why we are here. Both will continue to utilize their strengths. Jouni’s shop was not our glue, he says flatly.

– The attitude towards money has changed. This new situation brought peace of mind. We could live more luxuriously, but we don’t want that. We just want to be able to do nice things without worrying.

In 2019, Sampo and Minttu Kaulanen answered the Iltalehti editor’s exam.
