The famous

The Beatles are back in everyone’s ears. No comeback, because John, Paul, George and Ringo were never forgotten. But their 1966 album Revolver was remixed. A big event for real fans. What does that have to do with Berlin?

The Beatles never performed live here, only as soloists did Paul and Ringo come to the city several times later. But the “Revolver” album is related to Berlin. Because Klaus Voormann, a buddy of the band from the Hamburg days, created the famous cover.

The 84-year-old grew up in Heiligensee and later also played bass in Lennon’s “Plastic Ono Band” and famous recordings such as “Imagine”.

At the time, he received a Grammy for his revolver cover, but only for a fee of 40 pounds.

For three weeks he had drawn, line by line, hair by hair, in black ink and cut out photos.

The artist from Heiligensee is immortalized directly under John’s chin.
