OG progresses through Lower Bracket to win ESL One Malaysia

Dota 2 Team OG is back in top form: The European team of the double world champions won the ESL One Malaysia with a convincing 3:0 against Team Aster from China.

“I just love Malaysia too much. You make me so much better!” OG player Tommy “Taiga” Le shouted after the title win to the crowd, who responded with loud cheers.

OG made it through their group in first place, but lost to Team Secret (2-1) in the first round of the Upper Bracket playoff. In the lower half of the tournament, however, the team defeated Thunder Awaken (2-1) and Fnatic (2-1) to take revenge against Secret (2-0) to advance to the final against Aster.

The victory was also a tit for tat for the semifinals of the Arlington Majors, in which Aster defeated the European team and knocked them out of the tournament.

The ESL One was not part of the Dota Pro Circuit, which is about qualifying for the World Championship “The International” (TI11). The tournament featured several international teams, but did not feature Major finalists PSG.LGD and Team Spirit.
