Officially! FC Bayern scorer now storms for Gladbach

What has been haunting the media for days is now official! Youngster Grant-Leon Ranos leaves FC Bayern and moves to Borussia Mönchengladbach. The clubs announced this on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old Armenia international makes a free transfer. His contract in Munich expires at the end of June. Ranos has now signed on the Lower Rhine until the summer of 2027.

“I’m incredibly happy to be part of this big club. For me, this is a big step in my career, which I will approach with great motivation and commitment,” Ranos, who was born in Gehrden in Lower Saxony, is quoted as saying on “borussia.de”. And further: “Roland Virkus tried very hard for me and absolutely convinced me of Borussia’s path. I want to return this trust, show myself in training and in games, step on the gas and quickly find my place in the team.”

In 2022/23, Ranos conjured up a brilliant season in the Bayern Regionalliga: in 35 games he scored 20 goals for FC Bayern II and prepared 13 more goals. A yield that also convinced Gladbach’s sports director Virkus.

“Strong season” at FC Bayern II decisive for Gladbach

“Grant-Leon is a very interesting and talented player who can play in the center of the attack but also in attacking midfield,” said Virkus. “He played a very strong season in the regional league and wants to recommend himself to us for higher tasks. We will support him in that.”

With the Fohlenelf, Ranos is now hoping to finally play for the pros. In Munich he has already trained a few units with the Bundesliga team and has already been compared to Robert Lewandowski in the media, but he has not yet had a chance.

Recently, Hannover 96 was also considered a hot contender for a purchase, but in the end it was Gladbach who won the race.
