Officially: De Rossi released from SPAL in Serie B – Oddo successor

Was first station as head coach

The Italian second division club SPAL has released head coach Daniele De Rossi from his duties with immediate effect after slipping down to 18th place. In addition to the ex-professional, assistants and employees Carlo Cornacchia, Emanuele Mancini, Guillermo Giacomazzi, Marcos Alvarez and Simone Contran were also put on leave. De Rossi leaves the club with a record of three wins, six draws and seven defeats in his first stint as head coach.

With Massimo Oddo, another world champion from 2006 takes over the vacant post at SPAL. An agreement was reached with him on a contract until the end of the season with an option until 2024. This is redeemed automatically when you reach the league. It is possible that after De Rossi’s exit, Radja Nainggolan, who was last committed, will also announce his departure. Apparently, a decision on this is still pending.

The 34-year-old, previously suspended at Royal Antwerp, was only signed at the end of January. “If De Rossi needs me, I can help him. SPAL is not the only team that wants me, but I’m looking for an interesting project. Daniele is in his first year as a coach and I’m ready to help him,” said Nainggolan, looking forward to working with his former AS Roma team-mate, who had been on the sidelines at SPAL since the summer.
