Officially! Borussia Dortmund have signed Sébastien Haller from Ajax

Erling Haaland’s gap in Dortmund has been closed. Borussia is bringing an old friend back to the Bundesliga.

Now it’s official: Sébastien Haller will go on the hunt for goals for Borussia Dortmund. The Westphalia confirmed this on Wednesday. The attacker from the Ivory Coast will receive a contract with the Black and Yellows until 2026. According to media reports, the fee should amount to around 31 million euros plus four million euros in bonuses.

Haller is supposed to compensate for the departure of top scorer Erling Haaland to Manchester City in Dortmund. The 28-year-old scored 21 goals in 31 games for Ajax Amsterdam in the past season of the Dutch Eredivisie. There are also eleven goals in eight Champions League games for the 1995 premier class winner.

Haller scored 33 goals in 77 games for Eintracht Frankfurt between 2017 and 2019 before initially moving to West Ham United. For the transfer from Haaland to Manchester City, the Revierklub had received the fixed transfer fee of 75 million euros.

Haller is the sixth new signing for Dortmund after Alexander Meyer (goal, SSV Jahn Regensburg), Nico Schlotterbeck (defense, SC Freiburg), Niklas Süle (defense, FC Bayern), Salih Özcan (midfield, 1. FC Köln) and Karim Adeyemi (Forward, Red Bull Salzburg). In addition, Borussia brought Marcel Lotka as the third goalkeeper from Hertha BSC, but he is planned for the U23s.
