Official song for the 2022 Winter World Cup: summery feel-good vibes – “Hayya Hayya”

Every football World Cup gets its official soundtrack. In the past, songs like “love generation‘ by Bob Sinclar, ‘Wakka Wakka‘ by Shakira and ‘we are one‘ by Pitbull for atmosphere on the fan miles and in front of the television screens. This year, for the first time, there will not only be an official World Cup song, but an entire soundtrack. A music video has now been released for one of the songs.

The first song for the 2022 World Cup is called “Hayya Hayya” and is sung by the US R&B musician Trinidad Cardona, the Nigerian Afrobeat icon Davido and the Qatari singer Aisha and shows strong R&B and reggae influences. The video mostly takes place in the Qatari desert, where the three artists perform together with dancers. In addition, scenes from past World Cups are cut.

Qatar 2022: World Cup under questionable signs

The moody summer song, whose professional and flawless production as well as its target group conformity is evident, would certainly work well if the World Cup could be followed in high temperatures and balmy summer evenings in Europe. Instead, the 2022 World Cup will take place in winter – as it is difficult to play in the Qatari heat in summer without dehydration.

The opening game will take place on November 21, 2022, with the final taking place on the fourth Sunday in Advent, December 18. So it would probably have needed a cozy, melancholic Christmas song instead of the summery feel-good hit.

But that can still come, after all, this year it’s not just one song. According to Fifa’s commercial director, the soundtrack for the 2022 World Cup should “bring the spirit of the World Cup even closer to the fans”. It is not yet known whether it will also contain Christmas carols and when it will appear in its entirety.
