Official: Karel Sabbe honorary citizen of Anzegem
It recently turned out to be the third time, good time for Sabbe: he finished the grueling Barkley Marathons in Tennessee as the first Belgian ever. He also became Big’s Backyard Ultra World Champion in a new record of 75 laps, which was 502 kilometers in 75 hours. Sabbe can also call himself a record holder on the Alta Via 2 in the Italian Dolomites.
Immediately after his finish in the Barkley Marathons, voices went up in Anzegem to appoint their most famous resident as an honorary citizen. The city council has now given the green light.
The ceremony is likely to follow in the fall.
